Global vision | Knowledge | Compassion

I am Dr Lin Feng, a UK-based academic and work as an Associate Professor of Film Studies at the University of Leicester. I am a Senior Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy and a Fellow of the International Institute of Film Science and Art. I am currently serving as the Honorary Secretary of the British Association for Chinese Studies. I am the Co-founder of East Asian Screen Cultures SIG at the British Association of Film, Television and Screen Studies (BAFTSS).
I specialise in Chinese and transnational cinemas, cinematic cities, East Asian popular screen culture and industry, migration and diasporic filmmaking, and creative labour in the screen industry. My work spans historical research and contemporary industry insights, exploring how moving image and cultural industries shape our understanding of the broader sociopolitical landscape and vice versa.
I have extensive experience in leading curriculum development and design, supporting professional development, advising on cultural sensitivity and strategy, curating and managing cultural and academic events, such as conferences and film festivals. All of these aim to deepen the understanding of the power of audiovisual storytelling and the dynamics of trans-cultural communication.
Whether you are here for scholarly collaboration, industry consultation, or a shared love of cinema, I am delighted to welcome you to my digital home.
